Let's face it, Google.com is still the most important search engine on the market, and getting a good position in this search engine can be essential for selling your product or service. But what is important when dealing with google? Here are four most important things for you to know when optimising sites for google.com.
1.One way links
One way links are links, where other websites are linking to you and you are not linking back. These links are gaining more and more importance in google. The easiest way to get backup links is to get listed in ezines (article) websites, link directories which don't require a reciprocal link (but choose the right category), forums and blog comments (if the owner allows it). Be careful not to spam forums and blogs and don't get too many one way links at a time. Build them slowly. There is another option, paid one way links. You can use them too, but watch out not to get links from sites on the same IP.
2.Keywords in meta title, page title and page text
Keywords that are relevant to your website content should be in the meta title tag (at the beginning), for example if you're selling a honda civic, you could put something like this in the meta title: Honda civic car shop. Be sure to use the same keyword(s) in the page title (that's a title that is on the page and it's different size and/or colour than the main page text).
Also use the same keyword or keyword combination in the page main text. Like in every other or every third sentence, there should be „honda civic“.
3.Avoid link farms
Link farms are websites where many websites are linked together. If google detects that you are listed on a link farm, your search engine position will get lower. So, before submitting to link farms or even buying links on those sites, check out their directories carefully. You can also talk to other users who are submitting to similar sites on search engine forums so you can exchange your knowledge on this matter.
4.Reciprocal links – how to do it correctly
Reciprocal links are still very important to google. You should make reciprocal links with other websites, but beware that those websites are relevant to your website content. For example if you're selling honda civic cars, exchange links with other website that are related to hondas or cars in general or honda civic related websites. And do not make too many link exchanges in a short period of time. Let it be for example 2 per day max. If you make too many at once, google will asume that you've joined an automatic link exchange program and will drop your sites.
Follow these steps and google will most certainly list your site and give it a decent search engine position on your keyword. And notice this, there is no quick way to get a good position, you will have to work a little bit or more to get there. Good luck!
